Hayes Hawks at Deep South Round 1 – Knightwood BMX
It was a cold start to the morning as the Deep South Series got underway at Knightwood BMX, but thankfully the sun was shining and it turned out to be a great day of racing!
We only had 10 Hawks riders taking part today, but the atmosphere in the Hawks camp was brilliant. Plenty of laughs, lots of cheering and everyone getting behind each other throughout the day.
It just goes to show you don't need a huge turnout to have a great day as a club!
A Couple of Special Mentions
A massive well done to Charlie Christian, who was racing in his very first Deep South Series event!
Charlie put in some great rides throughout the day, doing brilliantly to make it through to the semi-finals. With a tough draw in the semis, he narrowly missed out on a place in the A final despite some great moves in those tight berms, but came back fighting to take an impressive 3rd place in the B final!
A fantastic result for his first Deep South event and definitely something to be proud of. Well done, Charlie!
Another big well done goes to Ethan Thorose, who managed to take his first-ever South Series moto win! A great moment for Ethan and a well-deserved result. Hopefully the first of many!
Another big well done to Jacob North, who put in some great racing throughout the day and finished it off with a fantastic B Final win! A brilliant result and a great way to round off the day's racing. Well done, Jacob!
Well done to all 10 riders who made the trip today. There was some great racing from everyone, some tough battles and plenty of effort from everyone out on track.
As always, it was lovely to see everyone supporting each other, both on and off the track. That's what makes being part of the Hawks such a great thing.
And we can't forget the weather! The sun stayed out for most of the day, but clearly someone told it we were about to start packing up, as that was the moment the heavens decided to open! 😂
Luckily, with some great teamwork, the Hawks camp was packed away faster than a BMX rider out of the start gate!
Thanks to Knightwood BMX and everyone involved in organising today's racing, and to all the Hawks families who came along and made it such an enjoyable day.
Great start to the series. Well done, Hawks! 🦅
