A brilliant weekend of racing, team spirit and memories in Manchester
What a weekend for Hayes Hawks BMX at The Brits 2026!
Coming in ranked 8th at the Brits! , a brilliant team result and a huge effort from every Hawks rider.
Hawks riders headed north to Manchester for one of the biggest weekends in the British BMX calendar, the 2026 British BMX Championships, held at Platt Fields BMX Track on 29th and 30th August.
The Brits is always about much more than just racing. It brings together riders from regions across the country for an entire weekend of BMX, and this year certainly didn't disappoint.
Hawks in Manchester
From the moment the Hawks camp started filling up, there was a brilliant atmosphere.
Our riders proudly pulled on their South Region shirts, fitted their blue Brits plates and represented both Hawks and the South Region against some of the fastest riders from across Britain.
For some of our riders this was their first experience of The Brits, while others returned looking to improve on previous years, but every Hawks rider had something to be proud of.
There was some fantastic racing throughout the weekend, with plenty of great gates, determined battles through the motos and some brilliant performances as riders progressed into the later stages of the competition.
Making it onto a Brits start gate is an achievement in itself, and seeing so many Hawks riders out there representing the club was fantastic.
More Than Just Racing
One of the things that makes The Brits so special is everything that happens away from the track.
The weekend gave our riders and families the chance to camp together, spend time with friends from Hawks and other clubs and enjoy the brilliant BMX community that surrounds the event.
And, of course, there was the famous Brits regional parade!
The South Region certainly made themselves known, with riders and families getting dressed up and joining in with one of the most fun parts of the weekend.
There was plenty of laughter around the campsite too and no Brits weekend would be complete without the kids finding another way of getting absolutely soaked!
The slip 'n slide was definitely a highlight for some of our younger Hawks riders and probably produced just as much competition as the racing!
Proud of Every Hawks Rider
Results are important, but weekends like The Brits are also about much more than the number beside your name.
They're about challenging yourself, racing against the best riders in your age group, supporting your teammates and making memories with friends.
We couldn't be prouder of every Hawks rider who lined up on the gate in Manchester.
Whether you came away with a British plate, reached a final, achieved a personal goal or simply gave everything you had in your motos you represented Hayes Hawks BMX Club brilliantly.
A massive thank you also goes to all the parents, families, coaches, volunteers and supporters who helped make the weekend what it was.
And congratulations to Manchester BMX Club and everyone involved in putting together such a huge weekend of British BMX.
